This past weekend in SF was the American Craft Council Show…Talented local designer April Powers chose many De Sousa Hughes items for her space… The theme given to inspire the designers was ” Let’s Entertain” April used pieces from Jean De Merry, Best & Lloyd and Joseph Jeup Furniture.april

Khouri Guzman Bunce Lininger designs and produces a line of handcrafted American furniture which can be seen at their showroom located on a High Line block of Chelsea’s Gallery District and soon in San Francisco at De Sousa Hughes. The line, built in their shop in Brooklyn, is unapologetically modern but executed in materials and utilizing methods associated with older levels of craftsmanship. Working in fumed white oak, silicon bronze and Pyrex, to cite a few examples, KGBL fashions sophisticated pieces that employ marquetry, leather molding and precious metal plating techniques. Look for their launch at DH soon !Screen Shot 2014-08-07 at 8.37.40 PM

Here’s an inside look at Tuell and Reynolds doing what they do best, creating amazing bronze home furnishings. Here they’re molding the segments of the big bronze cocktail table. Each part gets a little metal fence to keep the rubber in, then the rubber mold compound is applied. They use plaster to back and support the rubber layer…and then with great skill a new cocktail table comes to life !
